  • Maya Vray RT (Same as production render) - IBL texture not working

    Hello guys,

    I am using Maya 2016.5 Extension 2 SP1 with Vray 3.40.4

It is really weird that in Maya Vray RT (Same as production render), my DOME Light does not display the texture ( .hdr file ) and when using RT, it doesn't render with the IBL so the scene comes out black.

But, if I go to "Use distributed rendering" and turn on "Transfer missing assets", the RT will render with the mirror ball texture.

    Weird?! Help.

"Same as production" means that V-Ray will use CPU or GPU based on what you've set in the vray tab for production engine.
Apart from that, if you have to use "transfer missing assets", then this means that you were actually doing Distributed rendering. The DR machines would need to have the texture for the dome light (or any other assets for that matter). If you want to run RT on the same machine that you're running maya, then just disable Distributed rendering and V-Ray will render locally on your machine for RT.

Hi Alex, no we don't think so.
We even reimported the file so distributed rendering would have been turned off. Same as production would be CPU for us.

So this solution was some weird thing one of our guys discovered while playing around with other things. So now, it doesn't happen anymore since we solved it with that single click and when we turned off Distributed rendering everything works.

Weird, if it was on, then the scene must have been saved with this option on. Anyway, glad to know that you got it working, let me know if you run into more trouble.
