I'm still loosing shaders when they are apply to faces on a single object, I tend to avoid this workflow to avoid this problem.
I thought it was a bug in the Maya side but in fact i only lose shader once you duplicate in 2017, then shader goes green "Lost"...easy to fix but a problem that persists.
Does not lose shaders with standard Maya shaders, blins lamberts etc,.
A scene done in 2016 simple cube 2 shaders does not lose Vray shaders, if open in 2017 duplicate the cube does not lose the shader.
Only a scene created in 2017 seems to produce this bug.
