  • shadow pass noisy

    Hi,

We have been having this issue lately where the shadow pass created through matte surface looks smooth in alpha channel, but when it's inverted or merge (over) a background, the core of the shadow has lots of noise/artifacts. Even when we push the noise threshold to 0.001. Rendering with production CPU rendering (not GPU RT).

    OS: Windows 10 x64, Maya 2017 update 3, Vray 3.52.02.

just a guess but it could be light \ shadow threshold clipping it out.

      Hey Dmitry,

Light cut-off threshold was set to 0.001 (guess this is default) and shadow bias at 0.02 (also default I guess). Are you referring to this setting or something else?

no that was it. Perhaps post a sample scene of this issue.
