Hey!
I am trying to render a meshed Houdini bhclassic sequence (simulated water), converted to vrmesh via ply2vrmesh commandline.
When I load the vrmesh into Maya and try to render it, some of the polys are faceted and render black. So to smooth them out I added a Vray Subdivision to the Shape Node of the vrmesh which then renders fine - however, with that approach it completely kills the velocity / motion blur of the water sequence, which is bad
Alternatively I tried to load an alembic from Houdini directly into a vrmesh, but that also breaks velocity, as soon as I am adding Subdivision/Displacement to the mesh.
Also used the -smoothNormals flag in the ply2vrmesh converter to avoid the problem beforehand, but that crashed the converter itself.
This is Vray 3.53.02, Maya 2016 Ext1 + SP6.
Looking for a solution here.. thank you!
Sebastian
