  • Perpendicular reflection artifacts.

Anyone seen these artefacts before? They only appear when a reflective surface is perpendicular to a camera. The common denominator between all the scenes is that it's using a projection map (triplanar) for the diffuse.

Can't for the life of me figure this out.

    They look like burn marks.

This seems like a bug. Any chance you can post that part of the scene?

      Best regards,

I'll try to post this when I can. It's from a huge scene so when I get downtime I'll strip the scene down and post it.

Ok, I have a scene also for this. Let me know if I can email it to yourself or Maya support.

            Hi,
please email it to support@chaosgroup.com with a link to the forum thread. We'll take a look at the scene.
            Thank you for your feedback.

Hi, this still appears to happen in V-Ray Next.

If you use the same scene I sent in. Thanks

It appears that reflections of triplanar mapped objects just look like the artifacts in the original post.
