  • GPU: Cards not showing in Select GPU app

I have two situations relating to gpu in Maya 2018. Any ideas on how to resolve gpu selection and awareness.

    1. On remote workstation I have multiple TitanX gpu and vray and select gpu devices only sees one. They are functional in redshift so I have reason to believe they are installed properly. When I render only 1 gpu is being utilized. Select devices app shows two entries, C++ and one titan x. Maxwell series.

    2. On my local workstation my gpu doesn't show up in select gpu program. Only C++ shows up and in output it says "OpenCL not installed", found a total of 1 platform, 1 device" Inside of Maya it shows the Quadro M5000 and render with it however. After freshly installing program both cards were listed and I selected C++ for hybrid. How get both to show up? My env variable has c++ and m5000 listed.

    Thank you,
    Sean

We recently came across this on newly installed windows 10 machines where windows would install incorrect drivers by itself and updating the drivers from the NVidia site solved this. I don't know if it's the same case, but it would be worth trying, I think. The clue for us was that the nvidia driver installer would first detect the current driver version and it would not be the same as the one windows shows. Could you check if updating the drivers works for you?
