  • OSL compile error

    Hi,
when I am trying to load a OSL file, I get the following error message:

// Error: OSL shader error: Could not compile shader //fileserver/networkInstall/Vray/Maya2017/VRay36002/vray/opensl/jiWindowBox_VRay.osl (OSL to OSO) //

I guess Vray is unable to find oslc.exe.
How do I tell Vray where to find it?
Is there a preferred folder where to put the OSL files? Maybe the ...\vray\opensl\ folder?

We are running Vray from a network location.
    VRAY_OSL_PATH_MAYA2017_x64 is set to ...\vray\opensl\
    Maya 2017 Update 4
    Vray 3.6.00.2

    Cheers, Florian

    Hi,
I've reproduced the issue here. It happens only when V-Ray is loaded from a network location. I'll report the problem and check for a workaround then will get back to you with some more information. Thanks for the feedback.

It seems that this is a known limitation. A workaround is to map the network location to a drive and load V-Ray from there.

Thanks for the info. I guess another workaround would be to compile the osl files manually.

Will there be a fix for this in a future release?

There are no plans for fixing this in the near future.
