  • Vray 3.6 Fur visibility driven by other attributes

    Hi Guys,

We are having a problem with the visibility of fur. We are using a control in a rig so we can turn on/off visibility on certain objects. Some of these objects have fur. The problem is that Vray will render the fur visibility on even when the control is setting it to off.

If we break the connection on the rig and toggle the visibility by hand it works (you can turn the vis on or off). But we are trying to automate a lot of the process - so doing it by hand is less than ideal.

This had worked well for us for the last year or so in previous versions of Vray. But now using Vray 3.6 it seems to be broken. We are using Maya 2016 - but tested it in 2017 and still had the same problem.

Has anyone else encountered this? We are looking for possible workarounds. But as it worked in previous versions of Vray, I am thinking its a bug.

    Many thanks

    Will

Would it be possible to send us an example scene?

Here is a test scene. You see that if you render with the visibility control the fur vis stays on. Even though in Maya it is now invisible.

Your help is really appreciated! Thanks
