  • Render mask and Material Select

    Hi,

I noticed that if I use the Render mask option for rendering an image all my Material Select render elements render black.

Is there any way to fix that?

    Best,
    Rafael

Are all material selects black? Does the render mask include all objects that have materails that are part of material selects? If there are objects that are between your masked object and the camera, they might not be visible to either the mask or the material selects (based on what the camera sees). Objects that are not rendered with the render mask will produce empty material selects, since they are not visible to the camera at all for the render where the render mask is used, that's by design.
If none of the above describes your issue, could you share a scene so we can have a better understanding of what's going on?

The problem seems to be the combination of VOPs and Render masks Object Set. If I use Object IDs the Material Selects work fine. As soon as I use a VOP and Object Set the Material Selects render black. The RGB render is not affected.

Hmm, a quick test on my end works - with a VOP set inside the render mask's object set. Can you share a scene that we can use for testing?
