  • 32bit Disaplcement setup problem

    Hey there,

I'm currently working on a project and decided to keep to vray for this project. I have experience setting the displacement map a few times in vray but recently I've been encountering an issue where the displacement won't render properly when I enable the 'render as subdivision surface' check box (as if the negative colours aren't rendering; the negative colours is also enabled). However, the displacement renders correctly when I disable 'render as subdivision surface' and I can't seem to understand what the issue could be.

Anyone experienced same issue or has an idea what could be causing this issue?

    Looking forward to hearing back

have you tried to set the displacement bounds by hand.? try +5 and -5
you have todo that also if you are using UDIMs

how do I set up the displacement bounds? Is the Automatic/Explicit and how do I set it up?

Yes, it's the Automatic/Explicit toggle. Set it to explicit and add -5 for min and +5 for max (for example). Keep in mind that with Maya 2016 and up (if memory serves) you can't enter negative values for the V component of an HSV color value, so you'll need to switch to RGB 0-1 mode to be able to enter negative modes.

        See if that helps.
