  • NO motion blur in IPR

    Hi,

maybe I am doing something wrong, but I can't get any motion blur (object MB) in IPR working. Neither with physical nor from the render settings.
I totally get it with a production render fired...

    Its the nightly 3.60.04 - 28160
    Maya 2018.2

First it seemed to do with a bug in IPR not updating from Frame 1, but this is fixed with at least 28160...

    Thanks for looking into it.

    Cheers
    Dominik

There were a lot of random crashes related to that in IPR, so for stability reasons this had to be disabled temporarily. Our devs say that the next major version will have motion blur back in a more stable way. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This questions starts coming up more often lately We still don't have an ETA but as soon as we can share information - we will.

Hi Alex, just wanted to follow up on the motion blur thingy...

I tested it with a recent Next nightly, but still no luck - so I assume it is still disabled?

Are you planning on just fixing the instability or will you be able to make improvements to the interactivity? It would be really nice if we could adjust shutter speed and aperture and see the effect on the motion blur in real time without the need to restart the render.

Yes, we're planning on fixing the instabilities and reintroducing motion blur. And we're planning on further improving interactivity. We can't really share any ETA at the moment, but it's definitely on the list.

It was disabled in IPR as it caused too many stability issues and we've not yet figured a way to re-introduce it. It's on the list of things to do.
