  • Framebuffer multi matte selection control

    Hey guys,

A tool that would be amazing is something that can analyse a low res frame-buffer render and set the render element multi mattes accordingly. So for example, Ive got a full CAD car, interior and exterior. I might have 50 multi mattes (As we dont use crypto-matte yet in conjunction with Photoshop) which take ages to save out high res and wont want them all for every render layer output. For a render layer where I just want the wheels, or some interior parts, I have to manually search through for the shader IDs and enable / disable the elements. If there is a way to have Vray work out from whats visible in the frame-buffer, and set only the ones visible to be enabled, that'd be super handy.

I'd suggest you get on board with cryptomattes ASAP -- it's a real game changer. But, in the meantime I feel your pain and recently just found this tool which might make managing mattes easier. I haven't used it, but if I was still in multimatte world I'd definitely give this a test run:

Also, cryptomatte is now in photoshop. I've not personally tried it, but some of the guys here have tried it and say that it works. Here's a link: https://lesterbanks.com/2019/05/free...JtCsdnxahZCIaY

Yeh the new cryptomatte PS tool might be a game changer for us. Wasn't really an option in our pipeline before this.
