  • Vray PLE for Maya single frame resolution

    Hello

I welcome the Vray PLE for Maya initiative by Chaos Group.

I find that the single-frame resolution limit of 4k is too low.
Kindly increase it to maximum supported resolution for single Frame renders

    Hello, Nisachar,

Could you describe your use case?

      Hello Mihail

I mostly do single frame renders ( Large Landscapes, interior shots, etc ) for concept art and illustrations, etc.

so it would be great if the 4k limit is removed for single frame renders.

Wouldnt that just make it a free renderer for people who do high res stills?...like me...I mean Id be thrilled, but the whole reason for the max res of 4k is so you cant use it for produciton.

You mean like 4K animation renders can’t be used for productions ?

Im suprised there isnt a res limit of 1920 x 1080 (or less) for animations tbh.

V-Ray Personal Learning Edition (PLE) can only be used for non-commercial purposes, mainly for personal learning. The limitations were put in place after careful consideration, so that people who want to learn the software can work within the industry standards.

Here's a link to the FAQ for more information: https://www.chaosgroup.com/support/f...ition-for-maya

A commercial license of V-Ray for Maya is not restricted in any way, unlike the PLE.

                  Ok.
but I find 4K is too low for non animation stills of PLE projects.

4k res. is waaay more than enough for personal learning in my view, considering this is free, with no time restrictions and available to everyone!
There is still the student/educational licenses or the trial that are not restricted on resolution

There are many use cases, where 4K isn’t enough to put the software through its paces.
if all a person is concerned is with animation/VFX tests then yes, 4K is reasonable.
                      for other cases, it isn’t.
I already have a Vray subscription commercial license for Modo, but chaos groups licensing policies and presence of Renderman NCR that has zero limits on resolution isn’t an encouraging thought for me.
i am waiting for 3delights Maya 2020 version as well
i like some of Vray’s features though and I was hoping to use it with Maya ( non commercially for personal projects ) without restriction on resolution for single frame renders.
