  • Decal and texture reference objects

Seems like the decal doesn't work with texture reference objects, so no use as a projection tool for shading that can then be deformed. Would be great to get this capability.

Hi, thanks for posting. Could you share a bit more details about your workflow? If you are able to share a test scene this will be best. You can do that here or trough the support contact form.

It's really very simple -- I've uploaded a super basic example scene to the link you provided anyway. When using a decal, it would be very useful for Maya's Texture Reference Object functionality to work with it. This way, decals could be used for texturing (as they are extremely useful and versatile), but with the added functionality of the Texture Reference Object those textured objects could then be deformed. Texture Reference Objects work this way with projections and 3D procedural textures -- the renderer looks at the placement of the texture on the reference object, then applies it to the actual rendering geometry. It's a highly useful feature in certain circumstances, and with decals would be very, very handy.
