  • DBR custom location for vrscene

    Hey

We are using some cloud system where it created virtual disk and we work off that (think lucid)
Would it be possible that when we start DBR job, we could preconfigure vray to save tmp/vrscenes files to custom cloud location, and then dbr job would tell other nodes to read that file from that dir instead of sending files directly?
    Same with textures/missing assets.

Our workflow is becoming more remote, DBR seems to work somewhat nicely remotely where each dbr node is in different part of world... but the transfer times of data to each scene is a bit of a killer... would be great if we could use cloud storage that does sync quickly for the tmp/etc files.

    Thanks!

How are you submitting the jobs? Are you using a render manager?

Its DBR job, not deadline/etc. Just rendering with extra buckets.
Maya always saves vrscene/sends it ver network to nodes.
Would be great to have option to use cached location instead :- )

Understood. It's a good idea. I'll mention it to the product owner to consider it.

Would be amazing and made dbr a lot better tool to work over cloud-network!
          Thanks!

PS. it would also be nice if we could somehow... create maybe groups in dbr window where we can pre-prioritize somehow nodes so if one node is in distant network, it would be assigned buckets in batches rather than 1 at a time or something like that to help the network transfers.

Yes, DR was designed to be used with, so to speak, locally, hence the lack of certain options, e.g., the Asset Cache/Distributed Rendering variables without the variables part.
