  • Lens Shift enhancement

    Hi,

Is it possible to be able to see the Lens Shift in Maya's view-port?

You can do this in mental ray by using the Film Translate values. Maybe if V-Ray were to somehow sync it's Lens Shift settings with the Film Translate value this would be possible?

    Thanks

For newer builds we support the camera Film Offset parameters for standard Maya cameras, which are properly displayed in the viewport.

    Best regards,

Hi Vlado, sorry for the bump....but I think it's best to mention here. I'm using the newer builds and the camera Film Offset works great! Thank you for this.

However, it doesn't seem to play nicely when you have Physical Camera turned on - basically when you have Physical Camera on and type in a number to the Film Offset parameter it's being rejected somehow and defaults back to 0.

My workaround is to disable the Physical Camera, enter in a film offset, lock the attribute, then enable the Physical camera - it renders fine this way. Just for some reason you can't use this attribute when Physical Camera is on.

Not sure if it's supposed to work like this but thought I should mention it anyway. Cheers.

We reset most of the camera attributes when the physical camera is enabled, we do this in order for the viewport preview to match the rendered output. For the film offset attributes this is not actually needed, my mistake. These will no longer be reset for builds after 2010-04-01. So you won't need to do the lock trick.
