I love the vfb and history, but it's slow when you have a ton of images in there! When images are saved in the VFB a thumbnail-size jpeg that is named as the vrimg could be saved too. Instead of reading the actual vrimg and generating a thumb, it'd be so much faster to just load the jpg, and load the vrimg if/when requested by the user.
The other thing that I still feel the Maya RV does better is comparing two images. Yes, you can do this by switching between vrimg files, but these tend to be big with lots of render elements. Would it be possible to implement a snapshot feature like in After Effects, or how you can compare between two images in Maya RV by moving the cursor above the slider bar to snap from an old render to the latest render. The ideal would be a snapshot, because that would allow you to compare a snapshot of one framebuffer with another, or a snapshot of the beauty pass to an older version of the beauty.
I'd also like to add a +1 for rendering buttons within the VFB, as currently the Maya RV is hidden in nightlies (no way to turn it off) and thus there's no way to render from your render camera instead of your current camera unless you set up a keyboard shortcut. Lastly, Rendering > Render > Test Resolution is also very very handy and would be great to have access to directly in the VFB.
