  • Matchmove to Vray Physical Camera

I'm curious to know if there is a workflow involving Matchmoving and the Vray Physical camera in 1.5 SP5. In a project I'm working on, we're able to get a solid track and export that (from Syntheyes) into Max. However, it produces a default max camera.

I've come to really enjoy using the Vray Physical Camera and would prefer to use it. I've looked into Lele's Vray Tools today at work, and I don't know if it's on my end but I couldn't get it to work. I know it says it's compatible with Vray 1.5 SP2 but, it was the only solution I could find and thought to try it anyway. Some searching suggests Lele's tools still work so I'll try again in the morning. And new ones suggest not, hehe.

Other searching suggests just using the default max camera and altering lighting settings such as the sun and sky to .01. This solves the lighting portion, but I would like to retain ability to control the distortion, DoF, etc. settings per camera.

Just looking for a nice quick solution, of course I can manually tailor everything and relegate stuff to post but, here's hoping.

Edit: Oh damn, meant to post this in 3DS Max Problems. Not Maya Wishlist. Sorry, I'm tired. Possible to move?

You can allign the physical camera to the standard then link it.

To find the focal length, copy the standard cam, kill all the animation then use the convert to phys cam script. Use those values in the one you link.
I dont know if the lens is different from standard cams - you might not need to do that bit.

Thanks, that seems to be the nice and quick work around I was looking for.
