  • Maya fur?

    Hi,

    I may have missed this on thread somewhere else, but are there any plans to support maya's own fur?
    If you are in a situation were you want to render fur in animation? Then there is maya hair and shave & haircut?

    You can use V-Ray hair instead of maya fur, and you also have the option to use Maya Hair. Both also work with RT. Shave doesn't support RT, so that's a buzz kill for me.

      Not for the moment, as we don't have access to the fur data in the same way as for Maya hair. However we do plan to expand VRayFur.

        hi Excellent,

        It's not that vray Fur doesn't do the job, for stills it's amazing,
        But if you plan do add some simple dynamics, then thats great

          Thanks for that !
          Do you think the VRayFur Styler (which is available for 3ds Max) will be ported to Maya ?

            Not for the moment; the fur styler uses a particular painting API provided by the 3ds Max SDK which made its development extremely simple. I'm not aware of similar functionality in the Maya SDK.

              Well, there is a tool which allows to execute your own scripts while painting :
              Modify-->Paint Scripts Tool

              But I guess it lacks some of the functionality you need.
