If its at all possible to put this on the to do list, this would be handy for those maya users who prefer to use maya frame buffer, to be able to display various vray passes in it.
So how would this work? The Maya render view cannot store multiple images except for the history feature (or at least wasn't able to, last time I checked, which was some time ago).
one way I can think of is since vray writes out frames to disk (if that option is checked) they can then be loaded into maya frame buffers history much like stored images history which maya already does pretty much same way.
So you would scroll the history slider and it would display the passes one after the other.

Best regards,

In 2011 and onwards, in the Maya Render View, there is a dynamic menu: File > Load Render Pass and it lists all the passes that were just rendered.
I believe it is only for mental ray though and the OP is requesting this also work with V-Ray but it might mean modifiying Maya scripts so maybe not possible. Haven't looked into it.
