  • curve renderable improvements

    Hello,

While working with curves I came come up a few limitations and would like to suggest a few improvements:

    - Ability to apply renderable attribute as a separate node much like vray attributes which has been great, to have ability to control a group of objects with one node or multiple objects with multiple nodes.

    - When the curve base width is set to a low float value like 0.025 it truncates the value to be 0.0 even though the actual value is 0.025, and if you set it to 0.05 it truncates it to 0.1 making the control quite difficult.

    - More detailed tessellation controls like in 3ds max, where you can specify number of U V steps (subdivs)

    - UV mappable attributes, i.e. in 3ds max.

    - Currently the base width and tip width is based in world space, would it be possible to add a local space that would respect the scaling of the object's bounding box.

    Thanks!

I would like to revive these requests. I also like to add the renderable attribute to several curve at the same time, maybe with an object property.

    Thanks,

We have Renderable curve object set in the last nightly. It's in the V-Ray menu with the other object sets.

cool thanks. I will give it a try.
        Does the curve UV work?

        Cheers,

I think you can map the length of the curves (or else use the VRayHairInfoTex texture), but not their width.
