I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but it would be awesome if you could select an area in the render view with a lasso tool, so that you can render that area only. For example if you have an L shaped object and you only want to render that object and not all the crap that would come with it from doing a regular rectangle selection.

However we could do pixel sub-set rendering where only the pixels for a given object are re-rendered.
