  • open subdiv with crease edges?

I just stumbled upon some open source development from Pixar about subdiv. It's supposedbly being developed with autodesk to integrate it into maya down the road. Are you planning to support open-subdiv? i know vray supports Catmull-Clark meshes which is the base, but crease edges seems to be one of the true strengts of open subdiv since it eliminate a lot of extra edges.

As a note i saw the roadmap for development which stated that version 2.0 of the source code would be made available at Siggraph.

Actually we already implemented this in a test build, so we'll see...

awesome Vlado! that would really mean alot in terms of keeping down scene complexity. Now we just need the Maya devs integrate it as well as we saw in the pixar demo - realtime actual displacement? yes sir!

Reviving this old thread just to ask whether Maya creasing is supported (or will be supported) in VRay. I only have the educational version so I don't have access to the nightlies which may already support this feature.

        Kind regards,
        Eduardo

Yes, if you use OpenSubdiv subdivision.

Where is this found? Or is it a feature of nightlies / 3.0 beta? Thanks!

            Kind regards,
            Eduardo
