  • vRay Area Light "Directional" Attribute

I have recently stumbled across a noticeable difference when lighting in vray for Max compared to Maya. The VRayArea light for Max has an attribute called "directional" which focuses the light in a particular direction, the higher the number the tighter/sharper the light appears basically making it into an area spot light sort of like mental ray for Maya. I've noticed that VRay for Maya does not include this attribute. Does Vray for Maya include this somewhere hidden within? Is there any plans to include this in Maya?

    From Vray Max Manual

    http://help.chaosgroup.com/vray/help...ght_params.htm

"Directional - by default the light from the Plane light is spread out equally in all directions. This parameter allows the user to narrow the spread and make the light directional. The default value is 0 and increasing it makes the light beam more narrow and concentrates it in one direction."

Any info would be greatly appreciated (images attached)

    Many thanks

    Lee

EDIT: Just found this thread where Vlado states that it's in the nightly build.
