  • Perspective Match like 3ds Max

    Hi guys

I know this is possibly not the forum to ask for this, but I've asked for this on the Autodesk forums and there doesn't seem to be a decent option out there, other than using something like Max, or Nuke, or an old Maya 2013 script which doesn't work in Maya 2016/2017.

Basically, we're after a Perspective Match tool in Maya, like the tools in Max - where you click and drop on perspective lines in the backplate and the camera snaps to the correct perspective.

    Cheers

That sounds like something for Autodesk not Chaos.

Although to be fair - the Max tool is actually dogshit - it never works.

Yeah, having asked Autodesk, I just thought I'd put it out there. You never know.

It's not exactly what you want but google sketch is free and it'll do it for you.

          Cool, cheers.
Can you export the camera data to Maya?

FBX should give you a model and camera - https://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000172

Just to update, I didn't have too much luck with SketchUp. The imported fbx camera was coming in a little off.

The best/quickest solution for us so far, is Modo's camera matcher. Super quick and the export comes in to Maya perfectly.

                Cheers

Oh my god, that Modo camera matching looks amazing.

I dunno why every other implementation has to be so shit in comparison.
