  • Particle instancers in RT Renderer

Warning: Particle instancers are not supported at the moment by the RT Renderer!
I've been looking for an efficient workflow for instancing VRayProxies for a while, Particle instancers are a great way but they are not supported in RT CPU.

The new MASH tools inside Maya 2017 have improved greatly and the new world node is awesome.

Plugging in VRayProxies works great and starts rendering really fast, but it is frustraiting to look dev as it is all driven via the maya Particle instancer.

Please could this be implemented? It works in progressive render just not RT CPU

    Thanks,
    David.

Yes, it's still not supported in RT. But it's on the list.

Yes - this would be awesome! MASH is really progressing nicely, good for lots of things where VRayProxies are used - especially World Node, for trees, grass, ecosystems, etc.

Any updates on this one, should we get our hopes up for 3.6?

There's no progress on this yet, so no, it won't be there for 3.6, sorry

Ok, thanks for letting us know.

Hopefully it will come in the not too distant future, as it would really really change how we process very complex scenes.

Pardon my naivety but out of interest, how come this feature does not work in IPR rendering but does in progressive rendering? They look like the same thing just without the interactive updates.

            Thanks,
