Here is a big difference to Modo files, that no matter if you had an absolute or relative path, will relink all assets. I don't know how this works exactly, but I never really had a problem with it, well expect V-Ray.

The only thing I could do is run the re-link command before starting a Production/Animation/Standalone/Clound render.
I will make a note of it.
I couldn't find a way to run my re-link command on scene load, as far as I remember.
