You might have noticed that the "V-Ray Distance Texture" is somewhat slow.
There have been some internal optimizations to that texture, but they will kick-in only when both "Inside separate" and "Outside separate" are unchecked.
For this reason, I've modified the default value of "Inside separate" to be unchecked, so by default the texture will work in its fast mode.
If you have setup materials with the distance texture that rely on "Inside separate" being checked, you might need to update them, as the new default value will be applied to old scenes as well.
These changes will be in the 2015-05-19 nightly build, as well as in the 3.00.07 open beta build.
