From the suggestions made on this forum I made another test scene to see if I was doing something wrong with area light meshes. So normally I would just merge all the lights into one mesh and then link it to an area light. I assumed that the each of the cubes would be detected by adaptive light. Noticed in the event log only two lights were read by the adaptive light. When I rendered this scene it took 54 seconds with 1 area light and 1 item mesh with all the cubes.
I unmerged the mesh light layer into 55 item layers of single cubes then duplicate instanced the adaptive light 55 times and manually linked each one to a mesh light. I then rendered the scene and in the event log, 55 lights were found by the Adaptive light feature. The scene rendered in 20.8 seconds.
Not sure maybe I did something wrong but it seems like having a separate area light per mesh is what activates adaptive lights.
Is there a faster way to link each area light to each mesh item? Honestly took me a bit of time to do it but I am not experienced doing it this way. It took me 3-5 minutes manually doing it.
Thanks!
