  • v-ray next and kepler cards for gpu?

in the docs it says maxwell and above under system requirements

but later down the page it says that "v-ray gpu has been tested with the following cards" and it lists kepler and even fermi cards

    can anyone confirm?

This is on Nvidia not Chaos Group
Optix 6 requires Maxwell cards at least, which the Nvidia denoiser relies on I think
New Nvidia drivers will cause issues with kepler cards, so you shouldn't use them in a production environment
Thing is that you can buy a 6GB 1660Ti as cheap as 250 dollars
This card has more VRAM and better performance than all kepler GPUs
There is no reason you would want to rely on kepler cards in production

hey thanks for the answer. the reason i stay on kepler is because i have a really good quadro k6000 (12 gb) thats great for fluids sims. it's slower obviously but i need the vram. i do also have a 980ti so i'll have to use that

For V-ray GPU maybe use the 980ti, and keep the k6000 for your monitors and viewport performance.
