  • Replicator Colour Driven By Diffuse Map - Possible?

    Hi

If I have these items a mesh in the shape of a map, with a coloured diffuse texture on top of it, and use the mesh with a Surface Particle Generator and Replicator. The replicator uses a sphere prototype to cover the 'map' in small spheres.

Is it possible to get the prototype mesh to automatically take on the colour where it lies from the diffuse texture on the map mesh using VRay?

This can be achieved within native Modo - please see:

    https://community.foundry.com/discus...olour-possible

but it did not work in a VRay render, but does anyone how to achieve this in VRay?

    Thank you

Mark shows two setups in the video.

The first one won't work in V-Ray, because it uses the Raycast node which we don't support.

The second one, with a planar projection and World coordinates checked should work just fine.
I tried it and it seems to be working.

Fantastic - thanks - apologies, I missed the video on there the first time! Great to know that this is possible in VRay!
