  • bake V-Ray Water vector displacement to mesh?

I'm looking to see if there is a way to bake a V-Ray Water vector displacement on a mesh and export the mesh as an Alembic. I've been able to do it via Mesh Ops and apply Push Influence with textures, but V-Ray's textures don't seem to be applied. Is that a limitation or am I missing something?

    Hey, Larry,

Thank you for the post. I think the Texture Falloff works with MODO textures and that might be a reason to not see it with V-Ray textures at all.

Right. So there's no way to bake out a V-Ray texture?

No, it's not possible, our textures don't work in Modo itself, which means they can't be baked or rendered with Modo's renderer.
For this to happen, we would have to rewrite all of them using the Modo API which is not feasible.
