  • Activating licence - OSX

    Hi,

I have downloaded the beta, and have emailed the code to support in order to activate the licence, but have yet to hear anything back a week later. Am I missing something?

    Many Thanks
    Marco

I've tried both already, but thanks for getting back to me. I'll send another email to support.

i have activated the license on my file server mac in my local network, but modo on my main workstation does give error "could not obtain a license (4096)." what could the problem be? please is there a detailed step by step instruction for OSX non-dongle licensing?

        running under OSX 10.9.5 here.

        thank you

I've written some explanations in this post : http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...817#post640817
They are about setting up DR machines, but it is the same for workstations.

Of course, you can request and register another license on your workstation, in which case you won't have to start the software license server on your file server Mac.

thanks that helped! working now... is it possible to request also 2 additional render nodes for distributed rendering? i wonder if this can work on a mixed network like mine: i have a few mac pro's running OSX 10.9.5 and one z600 workstation with windows 7. would it be possible to use pc + mac together? would there be issues in terms of licensing? do i need to have more than one modo license?

Yes, you can request more V-Ray for MODO licenses to test distributed rendering.
It should work with Windows/Mac machines, in theory the different compilers that we use for these two OSes might lead to buckets rendering differently on Windows/Mac.
But these are always bugs in our code that we can fix.

You don't even need MODO installed on the slave machines, the forum thread I mentioned has instructions how to start the V-Ray render slave.
