Seems to work for me. The V-Ray VRMat material is created from the Shader Tree -> "Add Layer" -> "V-Ray Materials" -> "V-Ray VRMat" and then you need to select a .vrmat, .vismat or .vrscene file.
I've been testing it with vrmats/vismats from this material collection : http://www.vray.com/free_vray_tools/...on/index.shtml
I was using with a couple of .mat files downloaded from vray-materials.de and this type of file didnt show up.
With .vismat from vismat_material_collection is working fine.
Another question: is possible to edit/tweak .vismats inside Modo?
Thanks. Greetings,
Carlos
The .mat files are material files for 3dsMax, if you own 3dsMax and V-Ray for 3dsMax, you can use this command to convert materials to .vrmat files that V-Ray for MODO can read : http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...rmat+Converter
We don't plan on adding the vrmat editor inside MODO in the initial version of V-Ray for MODO, but we may be able to add it as a standalone application.
The version inside V-Ray for 3dsMax is described here : http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...aterial+Editor
The standalone application will be very similar.
I don't have 3dsMax, so i've to create every single material from scratch, with all the vismat/vrmat available out there, sigh...
Thanks.
The link I gave in my first post has quite the collection of directly usable vismat/vrmat materials.
Although you are probably right that there are a lot more .mat files created in V-Ray for 3ds Max.

Going to check this out tomorrow. Will this utility also take care of textures?
It would be a big help if we could fairly easy move materials from Max+Vray to MODO+Vray.
