  • Vray: Physical Camera + Exposure

    Hi guys,

    I'm rendering with RT at the moment and the physical camera shutter speed and f-stop do not seem to do anything to the exposure.

    Is it not working with RT at the moment?

    *Bump* anyone?

      It works as expected for me but doesn't update in RT. You have to restart RT every time to see the results.

        Thanks Kubbek. I hope the next update fixes the exposure issue without restarting RT.

          Yes, I've been postponing fixing this for a very long time, sorry about that.
          The same goes for the "color mapping" options in V-Ray Main, they won't update in RT either. Internally it's the same system.

            So the physical camera exposure not updating in RT should finally be fixed for tomorrow's nightly build (the one from 2015-07-29).
            Note that I haven't tested it if "Use local machine for RT rendering" is off. Might need fixing there.
            Also the color mapping from the global Render settings is not properly updated yet. Will fix it separately.

            Here is the full list of changes:

            (*) RT Updates: Improved camera updates:
            - changing film offset is now properly updated;
            - changing projection type is now properly updated;
            - changing V-Ray physical camera channels that affect exposure (F-Stop, ISO, etc...) is now properly updated;
            - V-Ray Camera and V-Ray Physical Camera packages can be added or removed during RT;
            - creating a new camera during RT, switching to it and changing its parameters is now properly updated;
            - RT is no longer restarted when changes are made to a camera that is not the current render camera;

            Also:

            If a non-standard projection type is used together with a V-Ray physical camera, the physical camera will now be used only for exposure

                Will the physical camera have the guess vertical option be added in the future? That is an option I use alot in Vray for Maya.

                  Added for tomorrow's nightly build (the one from 2015-08-02 ). Note that this won't be in the 3.00.07 open beta build, as it is already pushed out for release.

                  Also note that the button is called "Guess vertical tilt", as that's how the adjusted parameter is named (the name matches the name form V-Ray for 3ds Max, not V-Ray for Maya).
                  The command will respect the global "Up Axis" option, but only if it is Y or Z (X won't work). That's because I copied the code from V-Ray for Maya, and there is no option to have X as the up axis there.
                  And I am lazy to figure out how to modify the formula for this case.
