  • Some advanced settings from V-Ray for 3dsmax

Would it be possible to implement some of the new advanced settings from V-Ray for 3dsmax to modo like:

    1. Samplings hints in brute forc tab ("Per pixel", "Per AA sample")
    2. "Subdivs multiplier" in object properties
    3. I also would like to be able to re-enable dmc sampler tab where I can set adaptive amount and color threshold and play with the option of disabling "divide samples"

I'd like to experiment with some more advanced optimization but some features are missing.

We can do 1. and 2. at some point, but I am not sure when exactly.
As for 3. , the Global DMC Sampler settings from 3ds Max can be found in the Channels viewport with the Render item selected. They are near the bottom.

Any update to this topic? Especialy per object subdivs multiplier is something I would use on daily basis. Realy hope we can get it soon.

        2. "Subdivs multiplier" in object properties
Actually this has been there for some time. At some point the "GI quality mult." became the "Subdivs multiplier".
Tomorrow's nightly build ( 2015.11.27 ) will have the name changed.

Note that when working with the Shader Tree, you can have only a "Shader" item on its own under a mask.
I am attaching a screen-shot, where a selection set called "set1" is defined. A few polygons are marked with it, and then the Shader Tree has a mask on the "set1" selection set with only a Shader item under it.
This Shader has the "Subdivs multiplier" upped to 20.
In the OpenGL view-port, the polygons that are in the "set1" selection set are selected.

That is great news for me. I have been waiting for this feature. I am excited to give it a try this week!
