  • self ilumination on vray material

Is there a way to set the intensity of the self illumination on a vray material?
I need to do some light effects on a mirror. If I do it in modo material I can just add a bitmap for the illumination color and have it black where I don't need the glow. I am not able to do this on a vray material, or am I missing something?

You can do this in at least 2 ways currently
    1. set the desired amount in the "High value" channel of your image map texture
    2. set the image map's blend mode to "multiply" and set the amount in the "self-illumination" color in the V-Ray material (the MODO color dialog lets you enter values above 1.0), you need to make sure R, G and B have the same value

Of course it will be more convenient, if we add a separate "Sell-illumination amount" channel to the V-Ray material.
We may do it at some point.

Oh, and the texture effect needs to be "vmtl Self-illumination color". I can map "Luminous color" and "vmtl Self-illumination color" to be interchangeable in V-Ray (like the "Diffuse Color" and "vmtl Diffuse color" are at the moment).
