Is there an easy way to reset all vray settings to the default? In max you can simply load the scan line render-er and then go back to vray.
Is there any way to do something similar in modo?
In modo you can select all channels and right click > remove all
eg. select the render item > channels tab > select all channels (to select all, click the first channel, scroll to the bottom, shift click the last) > right click > remove all
You can also do this in forms too, but you wont be able to select all the channels in the render item easily. I prefer this way though because I normally only remove a specific set of channel values
eg. select 1 form label, hold shift then click another label to select multiple labels > right click > remove all
You will see the channel state (small circle thing) go orange for selected labels
Win10 Pro 64 / AMD Ryzen 9 5950X / 128GB / RTX 3090 + 1080 Ti / MODO I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live - Jesus Christ
This works pretty well for the settings when using the "Properities-Tab" but not for the vray-menu, since the values there are not keyable and you can't use the "remove all" command there. Don't know how difficult it is to achieve something like that ->
You're right. As I mentioned in the other thread, they are using an non-standard method of displaying values in these forms, by reading them using another command. This is why they aren't key-able/reset-able etc etc
I understand why they decided to do it this way. It allows you to view values without having to select the render item first, but IMHO, it breaks the way we expect modo to work. There are no visual cues telling you if you are editing a keyframe etc. It breaks the entire right click menu we see on forms
It would be better to use the standard properties forms inside these popovers, but automatically select the appropriate item using a script before popping up the form
EDIT: There is a also another way to read channel values in the render item without selecting it, but I havent fully tested it. It allows you to keep all the keyframe functions and right click menus etc. I passed the info onto Vladimir in case he wants to look into it.

Easiest way to reset all V-Ray Render settings would be to remove the "V-Ray Render Settings" package.
Select the Render item, and from the V-Ray menu go to Remove package -> Remove V-Ray Render Settings.
When you select the Render item again, the package will be added again with default values.

That won't be possible, MODO manages this little menu, and it contains only entries related to channel value cookies.

I specifically didn't want to do it like that, that's why I created the vray.channel command.
I find it annoying to have your current selection changed just to modify a render setting value.

Thanks Vladimir, this is the "easy" way I was looking for
