Nightlies build software licence ?

So are we waiting for new nightlies with an "ONLINE" suffix? Or doesnt that matter anymore? I only see dongle versions on the nightlies site.

The DONGLE builds are less restrictive as they don't require a V-Ray for MODO GUI Beta license, so they should work with the online license server, yes. Just tried it actually.

I noticed the defaults for "use local subdivs" etc, are still using the old values

Yes, they include the new stuff from the V-Ray for 3ds Max 3.3 Beta.
I haven't updated all the defaults and I haven't yet added the aerial perspective environment effect.

There is still an option to switch between the old and new adaptive methods, but I will most likely remove it later on. You can use it to compare the results the two methods produce.

I just updated to the latest nightly build and it broke my license (I was using a previous nightly that was about a month old). I tried following Vladimir's instructions but it didn't work, nothing seems to be able to activate the license at this point. Anyone have any ideas?

Were you using the SOFTWARE builds previously ?
Have you installed the new online license server ?

Hi Vladimir, thanks for the prompt reply. I was using the software license previously (and the dongle before that).

I installed the latest license server from the link you posted. Only problem is after installation it didn't open the http://localhost:30304 page, so I opened it manually but there was no option to go to settings and activate. Instead there is just one link that says "get status of the server". I click that but still no option to activate.

When I try and render in Vray it tells me the license is missing, and there doesn't appear to be any option to activate a license within Vray for MODO. I tried using the "Change Vray License Settings" app and I get an error message saying "Could Not Save Data".

It's a really confusing and unfriendly system, I'm really not sure what I should be doing.

OK - I made a mistake and downloaded the wrong license server, my apologies. I have this working now with the online license. I guess I must have been using the dongle previously, although I had thought it expired a while ago. Thanks for the help though.

Are you sure you installed the new license server, it should say version 4.0.0 . The message you posted is from the old server I think. A screen-shot might help.

Can you try right clicking on that and selecting "Run as Administrator" ?

So glad the online licensing is working.

Have a dongle but it doesn't work anymore after 9 years, and writing support to get new lic's is a pain.
