unable to add vray material

I often get that when I try to add a vray material it is not in the list. The easy workaround is to convert the modo material to a vray material.
But, now I try to add a vray SSS material or any other and simply don't have the option in the dropdown.

Yep, the only work-around, I know of, is to restart MODO.
You should report this bug to The Foundry, as all custom materials (including the ones that come with MODO) will disappear.
I think this bug has been around since MODO 601. I don't think it is V-Ray for MODO specific.
