Would it be possible to get support for the texture offset Amplitude? (under a map's texture locator)

  • #2
The texture offset amplitude should be working, but only when the texture offset comes from a texture with the Texture Offset effect.

You are probably trying to use the Random Texture Offsets ?

Yes, I use the random on "mesh parts" with a texture offset amplitude of 200 or whatever work. This work for modo renders but not vray.

I was postponing fixing this, but now that you mention it, I will try to add it as soon as possible.
It shouldn't be hard I hope, considering the mesh parts mode of the variation texture is already implemented.

You could work around it, by creating a Variation texture in Mesh Part mode, putting it below your texture and setting its effect to Texture Offset.
Also you need to create a linear color gradient in the Variation texture.

For tomorrow's nightly build (the one from 2016.01.06), I've added support for the Particles and Replicas and Mesh Parts values of the Random Texture Offsets channel of the texture locator.

For some reason, MODO ignores textures with the texture offset effect when Random Texture Offsets is not none. Maybe it is a bug, so I didn't replicate this behavior, and V-Ray won't ignore it.
Have this in mind when setting up a scene that should work in both MODO and V-Ray.
