  • Where is the globlal DNC setting for Modo?

    Hello,
    i saw the V-Ray sampling tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKaKvWqTFlw)
Where is the Global DMC settings that use Vlado?

If you have the official 3.01.01 version, they are hidden and only accessible through the "Channels" view-port.
You need to select the Render item and go near the end of the list of channels in the "Channels" view-port.

"Subdivs multiplier" is the "Global subdivs multiplier" that Vlado sets to 0.0 in the video.
The video is a little old, and you can instead set "Use Local Subdivs" to false.

If you have access to the nightly builds ( version 3.01.02 ) (you can ask for it by sending an e-mail to support@chaosgroup.com ),
there is a "DMC Sampler" roll-out, right under "Image Sampler", in the "V-Ray Main" tab of the "Render" item.

So I am trying the workflow from this tutorial. It works great in most projects, nice and clean and renders fairly fast.
But every now and then I get a clean render but my light element have a lot of noise. I cannot set the values on the lights so how do I get rid of the noise in this render element?Click image for larger version

To be honest you should be using the new adaptive sampling you wont have issues like that. Those tutorials are kind of irrelevant with the new updates.

I am using the new adaptive sampling. This is a bucket render and other passes are clean. So, should i just push more aa samples and lower threshold till this is also clean? Surely that will at some point slow down the render a lot

Do you have your Min shading rate set to 6. It's not the default in V-Ray for MODO yet, but 6 should be used for most scenes.

Mine was on 3. I also tried it on 6 but still the same
