  • V-Ray light parameter not available for MODO SLIK2.

I recently tested the newly released SLIK2 in MODO and found that lights created using the plugin did not show V-Ray light parameter normally.

I told SLIK2 maker, Yazan Malkosh, about this problem and he respond that SLIK lights are made from normal native lights. So I think maybe it's V-Ray part that did not catch the info of those lights.
SLIK2 is a very useful lighting tool in MODO. If the V-Ray light parameters can be shown, it will be a great plus combining SLIK2 with V-Ray for MODO into the workflow.

Yes, i agree, it would be very useful if SLIK2 and V-Ray for Modo work together.

The light properties are there, but they are disabled, because the light is locked.
That's how MODO works, if an item is locked, its channels cannot be edited (i.e. they are disabled).
In order to reduce UI clutter, I've made all disabled channels get automatically hidden, so that's why you don't see them.

Just unlock the light and they will show up.
Maybe I should modify the code to hide only channels that can be disabled based on other channels, so the rest of them are still visible on locked items.
This way, you will still see the channels and clicking on them will tell you that they are disabled, because the item is locked.

        Thanks Vladimir!!

It's better to show warnings at least user would know how to react.

        Cheers,

I've modified the code, so all of our channels that can't be disabled based on the value of another channel, will no longer get hidden from the Properties view-port,
when their item is locked, or the channel itself is locked. This change will be in the nightly build from 2016.02.16 . It is not mentioned in the change-log.
          It looks like this :

This is great, thanks for the change. I think slik2 + vray can be very powerful.

I hope so too. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of SLIK2 to test, and even if I did, I probably wouldn't have the time to test it extensively with V-Ray.
If you can test V-Ray and SLIK2 together, and report any problems, it will be very helpful.
