  • V-Ray Dirt and bump

    Hi,

Sorry to bother you again, but I'm playing with the V-Ray Dirt texture and I have a little issue. When it is connected to the bump channel of a V-Ray material, it does a weird thing and shows the triangulation of the mesh. It seems to be specific to this texture.

    Hello,
I see what you mean. It's related to the way dirt is calculated. Currently if you want to use V-Ray Dirt for Bump you'll need to bake it to avoid this kind of artifacts.
    Thank you for reporting this.

    Best regards,
    Margarita

I am not sure whether the underlying issue is fixable, but you can use the V-Ray alSurface material when you want to control the bump with a V-Ray Dirt texture.

The V-Ray alSurface allows the bump amount to be textured as well and you can safely use a V-Ray Dirt texture in there.
