  • Textures ignored?

I've been trying to refine the look for a shirt and got it to where I'm happy in Modo. But in V-Ray, none of the textures seem to be working. The network (shown in attached image) is fairly simple, but uses a mask to create metallic highlights. In Modo, this works great. In V-Ray, the entire shirt becomes metallic. The other shaders are rendering oddly, too. The camisole under the shirt I was texturing renders without any of the texture layers. The drop stone on the necklace, using the Modo-included "Fire Opal Rita" material, renders out without any color.

Am I doing something wrong, like not using V-Ray materials properly?

We don't support the MODO procedural textures at the moment.
That's why the renders are so different.
In your case, Weave, Ring, Noise are not supported by V-Ray for MODO.
We do have our own procedural textures which are similar.
You can see what is supported here : http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...+Compatibility

I might start by implementing some of the more common ones (Weave, Noise, Cellular).
If you can give me an idea of what MODO procedural textures you use most often, I can prioritize them.

By the way, with the setup you have the V-Ray Material will be ignored, since masking on a material works only for materials of the same type.
This is because the mask actually combines the properties of the 2 materials. Since the MODO and the V-Ray material have different properties, they cannot be combined.

      Thanks. That explains a lot.

I use cellular noise more than any other other Modo procedural. I'm also fond of grid, dimples, agate, puffy clouds and scar.
