  • Vray and presets

I have downloaded and imported some models with fairly complicated materials into modo with the .vrscene tool.
It works perfect, all the blends etc render the same as in max.

Saving these objects into the preset library break all the materials. When I add the items from the preset library all the materials render White.
I assume this is a modo limitation?

We talked about some limitations (or rather MODO bugs) and the work-around I added here : http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...100#post674100

What do you get in the Shader Tree when you use the preset ?
Is it an item or material preset by the way ?

      Hi Vladimir

After you added the schematic work-space it was fixed. But now if I save out a preset item and add it to a new scene there are no workspaces?
Maybe I should send you the .vrscene?

Nevermind...seems like my modo is broken. Any preset item I save out loose all their materials.

I took a look at the scene you sent me.
I think you should use the "Presets -> Save..." command. It will pick up the Schematic connections and thus all the sub-textures.

The "Presets -> Save Assembly Preset..." command that you were using doesn't do this for some reason.
It even gives you a warning dialog with something along the line of Deformers/Modifiers not being saved.
I guess it extends to all kinds of Schematic connections. I am not sure, I need to look further into what an assembly preset is supposed to be used for.

The "Presets -> Save..." command can save only one mesh item at a time, so you would have to merge your meshes before using it.
