  • Stereoscopic VR

    Hi,
Is there any likelihood to see Stereoscopic support in Vray for modo in the future? I am increasingly doing projects for the Virtual Reality world and am being requested more and more for Stereoscopic VR. I would love to do this work with Vray in modo.
    Thanks

    I've added the stereo support in today's nightly build ( 2016.06.12 ).

I've marked the supported MODO stereo related channels on this screen-shot.

You can read our guide to VR, if you haven't already : https://labs.chaosgroup.com/index.ph...ual-reality-2/

In V-Ray for Max/Maya, there are two parameters that are missing in V-Ray for MODO:
    - specify focus - always true in MODO, and the focus distance for the stereo cameras is taken from MODO's convergence distance
    - adjust resolution - always true in MODO

The stereo rendering works in RT GPU too, but the following options are not supported there:
    - stereo eyes - always renders both eyes
    - top/botom merge angle - always uses 60 degrees
    - shade map

    Greetings,
    Vladimir Nedev

Thanks Vladimir. This is great! I don't have access to nightly builds. Is this something that I can get access to thru Support or is this only available to users with dongles?
      Thanks again

It's available to anyone on the V-Ray for MODO Beta, you just need to send an e-mail to support and ask them to give you access.

Note that the V-Ray Motion Blur / Stereoscopic / Clipping Plane extra channels were not automatically shown/hidden in MODO 10.0/10.1 when the value of the enable motion blur / stereo / clipping plane channel is changed.
This is fixed for tomorrow's nightly build ( 2016.07.12 ).
