  • gamma import .vrscene from max/vray

    it seems i have washout textures on models imported as .vrscene from 3dsmax/vray
    is i possible to fix it, what I need to carry on?

    The gamma of the textures should be imported correctly, so it matches the result in V-Ray 3ds Max.
    Can you send me the original 3ds Max scene so I can investigate ?

    I think, there might be problems if Linear Workflow was enabled in V-Ray for 3ds Max, as this option is not present in V-Ray for MODO.

    Also note that if you are importing the render settings, the state of the sRGB button in the VFB is not imported.
    So, in 3ds Max you might have the sRGB button disabled, and then have the color mapping mode set to Color mapping and Gamma with gamma=2.2.
    Then in V-Ray for MODO, you have the sRGB button enabled by default, which means the sRGB correction will be applied twice, making everything, not just the textures, washed out.
    This image shows the incorrect settings, you need to set the mode to Color mapping only (no gamma).

    If it is indeed a problem with the textures, and not the render settings, you can manually set their gamma OR color space, but I guess you know that. Just in case:
