  • Distributed Rendering

    Hi,

Are there any tutorials on setting-up vray for modo distributed rendering using a mac as I am a little lost.

Read through the manual and installed and licensed the slave machine, enabled DR rendering in the preferences on the host machine and assigned the ip address but how do I start stand alone on the slave machine for this to work?

    kind regards,
    jon

A user summed it up nicely in this thread : http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...Setup-Mac-OS-X

It seems you only need to start /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/MODO_x64/vraysl/vray.bin -server in a terminal on the slave machines.

There are a couple of unnecessary steps in the linked thread :
    1. you don't need MODO installed on the render slaves, only V-Ray for MODO
    2. you don't need to start vray.bin -server on the host machine (unless it needs to act as a slave to somebody else)
