I need help to recreate this 3dsmax/vray material structure inside modo/vray
I'm pretty confused how to recreate this in modo shader tree.

    thanks.

      Hi bbgrid,

First, it would be easier to visualize the material settings if you would use the "Slate Editor", aka nodal view.

From what I see, you could reproduce the original setup with 2 gradients setted on Diffuse Color, one on top of the other.

The first gradient is a copy of the falloff #1, and the second a copy of the falloff#2.

Put your mix_suede.jpg in the first gradient to make it layer mask. Instance it, enable Invert and put the instance in the #2 gradient.

But I say that without testing it, maybe someone else has a better solution.

Here is the Modo version of the material. I have just reproduced the material setup, you'll have to tweak it to make it looks good.

            thanks,

do you use schematic view or only shader tree?

Schematic view in this case, to connect layers channels. Just throw the layers in the Schematic, you'll see the connections ( you may even have the original workspace in the setup layout ). You can also do it through the Channel Links window but it's horrible to use.
